On September 11th, a memorial in the history of New York, Berenik hit a milestone and debuted their unisex collection , but for the very first time featuring a mix of male and female models down the runway. Swiss-born-New York-based designer Veronika Brusa showed her SS/17 collection at the Pearl River Mart building in the heart of SoHo.
Inspired by her personal dream state and collection of abstract paintings, Brusa takes us into a trance-like state of silky and seductive imagery conjuring a deep summer mood. Prints included in the collection include a collaboration; digital cloudscape by artist Jack Hardwicke.
The collection is meant to be worn by both Men and women and really embodies a sense of boho chic that seems to elevate the genre. Check out More Berenik.
With NYFWM over more than 8 weeks ago, we are still crushing on a lot of the debut designers who made their mark this Spring season showing in New York. Blake Hyland, an Australian born- Canada-based designer with more industry experience than some veterans we know, spanning over 10 years with a breadth of industry sales and buying experience. For his first show during New York Fashion Week, Hyland really brought an incredible art mix of contemporary metallica to the runways hard!
We love the lofty Silhouettes and slate/neutral color palette symbolic of the "grey spaces" and balances between colors. Hyland's use of shapes and geometric lines make this collection a brilliant mix between futuristic goth and B-Boy cool. Check out more Blake Hyland .
The pressure mounted as collections began to fill the airwaves with seemingly synchronized silhouettes. Days 2 &3 were the Cool Boys' day dreams come true with brands like Carlos Campos, Tim Coppens, Coach and John Elliott to name a few prize deserving showings. But of course don't take our word for it, see it for yourself.
New York Mens Fashion Week kicks off with a band of rising talent that we loved. The pacesetting details, defying norms and bringing the beach to us were all executed fetes of Monday's showing designers. See full schedule here.
Rising designer and CFDA Fund finalist (2015) David Hart impressed us with his day/evening combination. We especially loved the palm printed evening blazers paired with solid colored day-linen shorts. They were sort of of cali-style meets red-carpet-young-actor. We think this collection has potential to be celebrity driven.
For the 2nd collection from Private Policy, we have to say that they have got our attention. We love the innovation behind their presentations and look forward to future seasons' collections.
Max N' Chester
Cool, calm, blue and white stripes, designer Peter Trainor manages to give off a nautical/heritage feel at the Max N' Chester presentation. The models reflected what we believe to be an amazing array of what cool trendsetters are like. We fell in love with Max N' Chester's mix of modern meets japanese heritage, color palette and textile choices.
